RIX Sends Ten to 2008 Yankee Conference and Two to U12 Showcase
February 25, 2008
The most of any RI program, the Rhode Island IXpress is proud to have ten of our players make Yankee Conference and two selected for the U12 Showcase this year. As a young elite hockey program it's been our mission to attract the best talent in Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts. This program is committed to improving hockey skills and sense of the game and to helping make available the many great opportunities that playing hockey presents.

In our second season it's an awesome achievement to be so well represented by our players at this year's Yankee Conference Tryouts. We send our thanks to the evaluators and program coordinators for giving their time and effort on behalf of the state's young female athletes.

This year's Yankee Conference Festival will be held in RI on March 28-30, 2008.

Coach Murphy Honored by Big Sisters of Rhode Island
November 10, 2007
On November 10, 2007, Digit Murphy, co-founder and Director of the RI IXpress and Head Coach of the Brown Women's Hockey Team, was honored by the Big Sisters of Rhode Island Organization. As they celebrated their 40th anniversary, Big Sisters of RI honored "40 Magical Women We Admire" at their Abracadabra Ball. Coach Murphy is especially proud of this award as it highlights both her personal achievements as a female coach and her work in the community as a positive role model and mentor of young women on and off the ice.

"I have a strong sense of responsibility not only to represent my profession passionately, but also as a strong female leader for the young women I work with every day," said Murphy. "Whether it's my college student-athletes, the young girls that are part of our RI IXpress hockey program, young women in the community, or my own children, the message is simple -- as a women you can be anything you want and with integrity, perseverance and humility you will succeed."
